Dewi Evans

Television arrived in this interviewee's home in the 60s as that is when electricity arrived in the village. He states that some of the most memorable things he saw were a man landing on the moon, 9/11, Morecambe and Wise and election results. He discusses Aberfan and his feeling that Wales was more parochial before the arrival of the Assembly. He talks of the disgrace that the NCB were not prosecuted after the disaster and believes that that is because of the connections between the industry and the Labour government of the time. He feels the people of the area had adequate leadership and that they were also less aggressive after a century of battling against their masters. He also discusses the Miners' Strike and his belief that the miners were being portrayed in an unfair way in the media and refers to the Tories' agenda of destroying the unions' power. Prince Charles' Investiture is also discussed and the beginning of the protest movement. He discusses the Devolution Referendum in 97 and deplores how shallow the attitude of the media is towards politics.
