This image is of the village of Cemmaes with a banner over the road. This was to welcome back Lieutenant Walton from the Boar War. He lived at Cwmllangoedoch, Aberangell. He had been lost presumed dead at the Boar War, but the news arrived that he was alive and coming home, and the postmisteress, in her excited, had told numerous people in the village before his family had heared the news. All the villages in the area put up a welcome home sign to follow the route he would take on his way home.
