Description

In 1948, CWS introduced Stanley Matthews football boots, designed in conjunction with the famous footballer, who played for Stoke City and Blackpool and is the only footballer to be knighted while still playing (he became ‘Sir Stan’ in 1965.

The popular boots were made at CWS’ Heckmondwike footwear factory, which had produced more than 1 million pairs by 1964.

This pair is kept at Ystrad Mynach Boys and Girls Club Memorabilia room.
