Description

This is a 'Cabinet' photograph of a Police Sergeant of the former Breconshire County Constabulary. The helmet plate (badge) is surmounted with a typical Victorian crown, which dates it to being within the reign of Queen Victoria (pre 1901).

I have not been able to find out any information about the photographer Frank W. Millais.

The Breconshire Constabulary was formed in 1858. In 1948, it amalgamated with the police forces of Radnorshire and Montgomeryshire......forming the Mid-Wales Constabulary. The county in now known as Powys, and is policed by the Dyfed Powys Police. Published on PCW with the kind permission of Mr. Derek Jones.
