Description

Born in Yorkshire, Julius Caesar Ibbetson (so named following his caesarian delivery) was a watercolor and oil painter who specialized in small landscapes with human and animal figures. From 1787 to 1788, he travelled to China as a draughtsman for a British mission, and published a treatise on painting in 1803.
