Dilwyn/Eileen Morgan

This pair discuss seeing a television in a shop in London in the 40s. When they set up their own home the priority was to get a fridge and then a television. They discussed the Aberfan disaster and the visit of Harold Wilson and they deplore the government's use of the money that the public raised for the benefit of the people of the village. They talk of the fund, saying that the television coverage ensured money would flow in. They discuss other accidents which had happened in the Rhondda but stress that people felt so differently about Aberfan because it was mostly children that had been lost. The two also talk of their different experiences of the Coronation - the husband in the armed forces and so a part of the event in London, and the wife watching the television and looking out for him. She tells of her pride watching the Coronation on television.
