Y Lle Hanes, Meifod 2015

In 2015 for the first time ever there was a local history tent, Lle Hanes, at the National Eisteddfod in Meifod. Inside the tent were many colourful displays comprehensively illustrating the history of Montgomeryshire and the adjacent border area.

Twenty two different Local History Societies took part, nearly all of them local voluntary groups. Organisations from the following communities took part in creating the displays around the tent: Bro Dyfi, Dolanog, Dyffryn Banw, Gregynog, Ceri, Llanbryn-mair, Llandinam, Llanfair Caereinion, Llanfyllin, Llanidloes, Llansilin, Llanymynech, Meifod, Montgomery, Newtown, Oswestry, Sarn and Welshpool as well as the Montgomeryshire Genealogical Society and Newtown Library. A number of national organisations including Cadw, the Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust, Cynefin, People’s Collection Wales, RCAHMW and the Welsh Place Names Society also exhibited.
