Letter from Corporal John Griffith Jones, from [Breakear?] City, Louisiana, to his family in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, 6 October 1863 [page 1 of 2]

Description

John has been here since the fourth of the month and he's expecting instructions to move tomorrow. John W. Jones has been left behind because he's suffering from the fever [often referred to as 'ague'] or 'Dikestick ffeaver'. John says that he feels frustrated and does not know when he will be able to write again as they have a lot of work to do. He has been bathing in salty water as they're camping near salty water. He says he's glad to hear that the wheat has turned out so well.
