Letters of thanks for socks were received by Miss M E Brock (Millbrook House) and Mrs Swindells, Main Street from Private Methly and Sgt Thompson both of A Coy 12th Service Batt Lancaster Regiment R.E.F.
January 5th.
Wesleyan Chapel
The Officers and congregation for some time have entertained the Welsh Regiment at Hearson Camp every Sunday evening after the service. Tea and good things to eat provided and a sacred sing song. Over 100 in khaki attended on a recent evening.
January 12th.
A Llangwm donkey - Sarah Bryant of Guildford fined 5s and costs for ill treating a donkey. February 16th.
Alleged theft
William Hill, baker, aged 17, was summoned for stealing 1 apple tart and a rice pudding value 1s the property of Alfred J Anstee. The defendant did not appear and the bench issued a warrant for his arrest.
March 30th.
Private William Hitchings, son of Mr and Mrs Frederick Hitchings of Hook was reported missing on 23rd May, aged 21. He was killed during the battle of Bullecourt when with the East Yorkshire Regiment.
July 6th.
Alfred Anstee’s shop, Main Street, Llangwm.
The late Trooper Harry George. Funeral at Llangwm. Mr George was the 1st man, along with his cousin, Leslie James to volunteer for war service from Llangwm.
September 21st.
Roose Sessions
Lighting offences. Albert Skyrme, for driving a donkey and cart without a light. Fined 2s 6d. Lily Palmer was fined 2s 6d for a similar offence. William Hill was fined 2s 6d for a similar offence. November 23rd.
Private Stanley Morris of Main Street is home on leave having taken part in the fighting at Cambrai. “He looks well”.

David Harries George, known as Harry, was born in 1894, the eldest of 11 Children. His father George Protheroe George farmed 216 acres, and employed 2 men and 3 boys outdoors. There were also 5 other general servants who worked mainly on indoor tasks. The servants either lived out or were housed in an outbuilding.
