About

Dilys Jones from Aberarth is proud of her upbringing in rural Ceredigion and the time that she farmed a dairy farm in Pennant with her late husband, Gwilym. Over the years she has been a member of several organisations and societies – she was leader of the Young Farmers for example, and she also established the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show's youth committee in the 1980s; over the years, she has also benefited from her links with the Mid Ceredigion Cymdeithas Tir Glas society. As well as being a member of Merched y Wawr and Gorsgoch Literary Society, Dilys continues to support the Welsh learners' community. She can be found researching the archives of the National Library of Wales regularly and loves giving talks and lectures to local societies. In 2010 she inherited a collection of agricultural documents, letters and diaries from her grandfather, R. L. Jones – a man who made a significant contribution to the agricultural world in Ceredigion; as keeper of this amazing collection of diaries recorded between 1915-1940, Dilys has brought together a number of items as well as recording oral history about R.L. to be shared on People's Collection Wales. This talk has been presented to a number of societies during 2019-2020 whilst raising money for the Ceredigion National Eisteddfod.
