Letter sent to Lucy Hannah White by her mother, 1891
Description
Lucy’s mother, Lucy Thompson White, died when Lucy was 6.
This is a letter Lucy received from her mother who was possibly in hospital as she died of pneumonia:
“My Dear Lucy. I am sure you are a very good little girl with Lillie and Norah. Mother is thinking about you and hopes you will not let Lillie push you out of bed. Have you put your dolls all tidy and their clothes in the box, and you can write a little copy every day and ask Norah to cut you a bit of cardboard to make a little marker. Write a little note by yourself. Good night from Dear Mother.”
