Non-accessible content
The following content does not meet WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria:
Videos
- Not all videos have captions or audio descriptions.
- Fails success criteria 1.2.2, 1.2.3, 1.2.5.
Audio files
- Not all audio files have text alternatives.
- Fails success criterion 1.2.1.
Documents
- Some PDFs are not fully accessible to screen reader and keyboard-only users.
- Common issues include missing headings, reflow problems when zooming, lack of alternative text for images, and insufficient colour contrast.
- Fails success criteria 1.1.1, 1.3.1, 1.4.3, 1.4.10.
We are actively working to improve these areas, with document remediation planned for completion by 2026.
Disproportionate burden
We have no accessibility issues currently identified as a disproportionate burden.
Content outside the scope of the regulations
The following content is exempt from the accessibility regulations:
- Most of the material on People's Collection Wales is user-generated and uploaded directly by members of the public and partner organisations. This includes images, video, audio, PDFs, and links to third-party content. This content is exempt from the accessibility regulations as it is not funded, developed, or directly controlled by People's Collection Wales.
- We are, however, committed to providing an accessible platform for users to contribute and view content. While we cannot guarantee the accessibility of every individual item uploaded, we actively encourage our contributors to follow accessibility best practices, and we provide guidance to help them do so.
- Pre-recorded videos published before 23 September 2020.
- PDFs and other documents published before 23 September 2018 that are not essential to our services.
- Live video and audio streams.
- Online maps (though we aim to make any essential information available in an accessible format).
