My dearest Lillie
Behold my temporary address. I spent the first night at the Castle and was sent here the next day. Will you send the socks as soon as they are ready? It is too cold to wear the thin ones and I fear I am going out very shortly. I said cold- perhaps it is more draughty than that – the mess and anteroom would make a first rate refrigerator – but our sleeping quarters, being smaller naturally are cosy enough with the stoves, but they get ‘fug’. We are high up and the bracing cold air acts like a tonic. I think you ought to send me my kit buckle and there was a pair of metal boot trees at Llangunnor, you might send with it.
There isn’t much to tell you. Fondest love to Aunt G and yourself,
Your loving brother
Harry
