Letter written to Thomas Benbow Phillips by Jessie Watson at Crail, dated 7 June 1871

Thomas Benbow Phillips's letter dated 2 April had been received, as well as a list of subscribers and a Bill for the amount collected, which was £57 1s 9d sterling. She stated that the kindness shown to her and her children in their present circumstances in a foreign country had quite overwhelmed her. She had obviously lost her husband, her children had lost a father, and this handsome gift was going to enable her to open a grocer's shop, so that she could bring up her family respectfully. She sent her good wishes for Thomas Benbow Phillips's health and every blessing for the future.
