Description

Copy to Thomas Benbow Phillips, agent of the Dundee Union Association of Underwriters of a Survey signed by both John Baker off the “Louie” of Rye and David Douglas off the “Celia” of Montrose, dated 13 December 1873, at Rio Grande do Sul,

Both men had been requested to go on board the Brigantine “Beautiful Star” of Dundee, and report on her condition. It was a thorough, lengthy, detailed report on the lack of seaworthiness of the ship in question, and they used nautical terms to describe the extremely poor condtion of the vessel.
