Works by Artist J.Kelt Edwards

Artist and cartoonist John Kelt Edwards (1875-1934) was born in Blaenau Ffestiniog. He painted a number of landscapes as well as portraits of famous Welshmen, including David Lloyd George, O M Edwards and Hedd Wyn, and exhibited his works in the Paris Salon in London.

Following Hedd Wyn's death in 1917 he produced the famous 'Hiraeth Cymru am Hedd Wyn' postcards where he portrays Wales as the grieving mother, and later, he illustrated Hedd Wyn's book of poems, 'Cerddi'r Bugail' published posthumously and edited by the Rev. J. J. Williams in 1918.

He also designed the chair for the Corwen National Eisteddfod in 1919, which was carved by his cousin, Elis Davies.
