Jim Mansell was a disability activist. As Cardiff University student he volunteered at Ely Hospital and worked with people with learning disabilities. He contacted the media and brought national attention to their poor living conditions. Jim helped set up a new assisted living charity for former Ely patients. This laid the foundation for the Wales-wide NIMROD project.
