John Briddon - Trinity House National Service 1959
John Briddon grew up in Newquay, Ceredigion and was called up for National Service in the latter part of the 1950's, when conscription was nearing its end. The three-armed services were vastly reducing its intake of new entrants. John was sent to Trinity House and subsequently spent about three months serving on ‘Light ships’ in the Bristol channel. This collection offers a unique insight into this little known but vital service provided by Trinity House. This material supports the work of the West Wales Veterans Archive National Service project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Lottery Fund.
