Crowning the Bard: The Crowning Ceremony at the National Eisteddfod
At the National Eisteddfod, two of the main prizes are awarded to poets.
The Chair is awarded for the awdl, a poem written in strict metre using cynghanedd. The Crown is awarded for the pryddest, a poem written in free verse.
This collection brings together photographs of the Crowning Ceremony across the decades, including Eluned Phillips at the Bala Eisteddfod in 1967, Dawns y Blodau in 1978, Donald Evans with his crown in 1977, and Ceri Wyn Jones being crowned in 2009.
