Llanfyllin Workhouse and the Poor Law Union

The Llanfyllin Union Workhouse was one of several hundred built across England and Wales after 1834, the year in which parliament passed the Poor Law Ammendment Act. The Act established Poor Law Unions, groups of parishes, to deal with the treatment of paupers
