The interviewee says that he would watch television on holiday and that there was no electricity in Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant when he was a child. His earliest memory is going to his father's friend's house in Oswestry to watch the Cup Final and the room was full. Electricity was put into the village hall in order to watch the Coronation but personally conquering Everest was more important. After moving to Wrexham, he remembers the struggle to get a better signal in order to be able to receive programmes from Wales. He remembers seeing the technical aspects of Tryweryn, building the dam got more attention than drowning the village. He says that it was after S4C began that the loss was shown on television. He heard of the Aberfan disaster in the car and says that this was true for many events. Television had brought the world to Wales. He watched the Investiture on and off during the day but he remembers hearing more about Charles studying in Aberystwyth. He says that television has increased his interest in rugby though football is his main interest. When S4C was launched it was hard to get a good signal in Wrexham, but then he watched Welsh news rather than British. Children's programmes are mentioned and the fact that the channel has made them more aware of different parts of the country. The support of the wives made an impression during the Miners' Strike and there was a big emphasis on Arthur Scargill.
