Dewi Rhys Jones

Children's television is the interviewee's earliest memory. As he got older 'living life' took over from television. There were meetings at his home during the Tryweryn period but he mostly got news from the radio and newspapers, and remembers seeing some protests on the news. He had gone to Nefyn with his uncle to avoid the Investiture, he remembers seeing some things on television later and reviling the whole thing. Thought that the things he had seen in the months before the ceremony, the stories of bombs and protest, were exciting. He says that everyone in Caernarfon knew who the 'secret' police were. He says that broadcasting rugby was useful in his role as a coach, as he would tell the children to watch the tactics in a match. The launch of S4C was an exciting event on a personal level as he had produced and appeared in programmes. He remembers the personalities Arthur Scargill and Margaret Thatcher from the Miners' Strike period.
