Derek Jones

Interviewee saw television for the first time at his aunts' house and watched TV while serving in the Air Force. Remembers his uncle buying a magnifying glass to put over the television. Talks of improvement to outside broadcasting as years went on, especially for sport, and enjoying the social history of watching a football match. Discusses the overall impact of television and the interesting experience of watching it develop. Followed Tryweryn from Liverpool's perspective because their television came from that area rather than Wales.There was not a lot of Welsh coverage of the Miners' Strike, and was more aware of goings-on in the mines in Northern England.
