This is Flight Sergeant Hiram Edwin Davies (service No. 1317697) of 106 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He joined the RAFVR in 1940.
Hiram lived at 7 Waterloo Terrace, Ty'n-y-coedcae (or Waterloo). Born 21/02/1921 (at No 4 Waterloo Terrace) and died 26/06/1943 aged 22. He was the mid upper turret gunner on Avro Lancaster W4367, and died after completing a mission on Gelsenkirchen on the Ruhr when the plane was hit over Holland by a Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-4 night fighter flown by Oberleutnant Hans Leickhardt of Nachtgeswader 5 on detachment to NJG 1. They had almost reached the Dutch coast. The plane crashed killing all seven crewmen. Hiram had forgotten to put his dog tags on that afternoon so his body was never identified.
