Bungalow Stores Aberangell, late 1930s

Description

A late 1930s photo of the home and shop of Mr and Mrs Ben Jones that was known simply as Bungalow Stores. The building-from an ex wartime barracks in Oswestry , was built on the site of similar accommodation used by a rough gang of woodcutters employed in the area during the 1914-20 period. It has since been demolished to make way for a modern dwelling. From the collection of Gwyndaf Breese. Bethania chapel in the background.

Bungalow Stores opened in 1922, initially run by Lewes Dawes. It survived until the 1950s. I suspect this photo was taken in the first half of the 1920s, not long after the Stores opened.
