Description

This article recounts the experience of an Englishman visiting Merthyr Tydfil's ironworks in the 1860s.

His journey begins by crossing into Wales from Herefordshire, and he is at pains to record the distinctively 'Cambrian' character of the landscape and its inhabitants once across the border.
