Description
Charlotte Guest (1812-95) was the wife of John Josiah Guest, the Dowlais iron master. Although she enjoyed a luxurious life style as a result of her family's industry she is best remembered for her philanthropic concerns for the workers in the area. This testimonial scholarship is evidence of her involvement in public works.
The certificate records an award of £1 to 12 year old William Pierce Morgan for proficiency in reading, writing, arithmetic, grammar, geography and scripture.
