Neath Abbey Charter, c. 1200
Description
This charter was granted by Henry de Abergavenny, Bishop of Llandaff, and relates to the lands of Neath Abbey that fell within his diocese at the time of writing. It was probably issued not long after the monks of the abbey failed to move their house to the safer environs of Exford, Somerset, and represents an attempt to secure the monks holdings in light of this failure.
