Description

Flying start is a Welsh Government funded initiative to support families. They were regulars at Community House during the 2000s. These groups provide a much needed life line to young families, particularly single parents who do not have the support network of a connected family living close by.
Meeting up every week provided a much needed respite from being confined at home with young children and babies, surrounded by never-ending domestic tasks. Attending the group enabled young parents to meet other parents in similar situations as themselves which raises mental health and prevents feeling disconnected and isolated. Unfortunately due to cuts in services, this provision was gradually phased out.
