28 Rolling our first silage, 1949
Description
In a pit we prepared with concrete sides, we have tipped a lot of green grass, sprinkled it with molasses from the barrel, mixed with water in the bath, and are here rolling it down with a Fordson tractor of the time. I am driving, Dad standing beside, and my little brother Julian in the foreground, leaning on his cut down pitchfork! In later years we gave up using the molasses.
