Patchwork quilt made from wool flannel, late 19th century

Description

Patchwork quilt made from recycled shirt-weight wool flannel cut in diamond shapes. Machine-stitched quilting in diamond pattern. Backing fabric is cotton. It was originally a 'whole-cloth' backing but has since been extensively repaired or reinforced around the edges with a variety of cotton (possibly sheeting) fabrics. Measures 207 x 193 cms.
