Description
A reversible 'whole-cloth' quilt which has actually been made from several large pieces of fabric stitched together. It is beige on one side and mostly red on the other. The quilting features a spiral and leaf pattern quilting.
This quilt was donated to Ceredigion Museum and was made from the donor's own wool for Mr and Mrs Thomas Jones (the donor's parents) of Nantygele, Nanternis, c. 1910-15. The wool was spun and dyed at Waun Factory, Talgarreg (which was operated by a Mr Thomas) and was then sent away to be woven on a 28-shaft loom which is now housed at the Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans. The quilt measures 204 x 400 cms
