A view of Brecon and the River Usk, 19th century

Description

A distant view of the small county town of Brecon, from an extensive series of popular topographical engravings created and published by Newman & Co at 48 Watling Street, London. They were important publishers of topographical views in the 19th century. In this view from above the River Usk, the tall 16th century tower of St Mary's Church looms above the town and the Brecon Beacons and Pen y Fan dominate the scene to the south.
