Brecon Castle from the River Usk, 19th century
Description
An engraved view of the remains of Brecon Castle and the bridge over the river Honddu, where the river joins the Usk. A contemporary publication observed that 'the magnificent castle...is now curtailed to a very insignificant ruin'. The Honddu mill and its wheel can be seen beyond the elegant stone bridge, which was lost to floods in 1853. This print was engraved for 'The Antiquarian & Topographical Cabinet' from a drawing by the Rev. C Turner.
