Description

Llanfair Caerinion in 1802, with the market hall at the centre. Once the centre of local life, with covered market at ground level and meeting room above, few of the oldest market halls survive. Their usual location at the centre of the main street caused problems as horse and later motor traffic increased. Llanidloes has a very rare survivor. From a drawing by G. Samuel engraved and published by J. Walker of London.
