Rivers Honddu and Usk at Brecon, c. 1850
Description
The meeting place of two rivers at Brecon, photographed around 1850. Here the Honddu flows under the old stone built Honddu bridge, and joins the River Usk. This bridge was later destroyed by floodwater during a severe storm in 1853. The elegant faade of the Castle Hotel is at the centre of this view, next to the creeper clad remains of the ancient castle.
