Boneshaker, make unknown, 1869

Description

So called because of the rider's bumpy experience while riding the bicycle, the 'boneshaker' was also known as the 'velocipede' or the 'Michaudine', after its inventor Ernest Michaux. Michaux, a French locksmith, developed Karl von Drais's hobby horse into a pedal-powered bicycle.
