Elan Valley construction site, 1896

Description

A view of a stone-dressing yard near the site of the Careg-ddu dam in the Elan Valley. The huge scale of many of the blocks of stone used in the Victorian waterworks scheme can be seen from the workers alongside them. One of the massive steam cranes used on the site is in the background, plus a line of wagons of the temporary Elan Valley railway.
