Central Wales Emporium, Llandrindod Wells, c. 1882

Description

This image shows the Central Wales Emporium and Welsh Woollen Warehouse in Llandrindod Wells. This was an enterprising business opened in the town in 1881 to take advantage of the trading prospects resulting from the large numbers of visitors to the spa town. Though mainly dealing in clothing and fabrics, the Emporium became a successful forerunner of the now familiar department stores carrying a wide range of goods.
