Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway opening, 1903

What This photograph shows the opening of the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway on 4 April 1903 by the Earl of Powis. The local people on the left watching the proceedings include Bert Evans, a chimneysweep in the district. The line extended for some nine miles westwards from Welshpool to Llanfair Caereinion.
