Visitors to Powis Castle park, 1863
Description
A pair of stereoscope photographs of a group of visitors pictured in Powis Castle park on 20 August, 1863. The wide crinoline dresses of the ladies and the tall stovepipe hats of some of the men are particularly striking indicators of the early date. Robert Owen of Welshpool, advertising as a bookseller, stationer, printer, and bookbinder, produced local stereoscope view cards of this type over many years.
