Sergeants' Row, Welshpool

Description

The row of cottages known as Sergeants' Row stood near the canal at Welshpool. These were built as housing for local militia sergeants and their families during the Napoleonic Wars of the 19th century, and were later used by war veterans. The half-timbered and thatched cottages have not survived, and were clearly in poor condition at the time of this photograph.
