Smithfield Fountain, Welshpool

Description

The ornate cast iron fountain stood in the Smithfield livestock market in Welshpool until the Second World War, when it was probably melted down for the war effort. The fountain on its pedestal appears to have been surrounded by a moat of drinking troughs for the animals.
