Arrival of the Hovercraft at East Parade. Note how packed the beach was then.
Description
The hovercraft was a VA-3 Vickers Armstrong. It arrived in Rhyl on July 19th, 1962. It was commanded by R.L. Colquhoun D.F.C and Captain R.T Old. It was in Rhyl for 59 days but because 1962 was a windy Summer it made only a limited number of trips. It went from Rhyl to Wallasey and carried 24 people each trip. It had a top speed of 60 mph and the round trip took 1 hour.
