Pavilion Circus Company

Description

For many years the Pavilion presented a circus. This photograph is for the company of 1957. It was rather strange having a circus on a stage rather than in a ring, but it seemed to be successful. I have a memory of one act which involved a tightrope artiste walking from the stage right up to the back of the theatre over the heads of the audience in the stalls and circle. She then slid back down to the stage. No Health and Safety in those days then!
