Description

Godfrey Morgan fought in the Crimean War and rode his favourite charger, Sir Briggs, in the ill-fated Charge of the Light Brigade. Both of them survived the battle and Sir Briggs was brought back to Tredegar House to live out his days in peaceful retirement. On his death at the age of 28 in 1874, he was buried in the grounds of the house and a monument was erected in his memory.
