Description
A map presented to Lord Cawdor, following his capture of the French troops who 'invaded' Fishguard on 22 February 1797. A small invasion force, La Legion Noire, consisting of approximately 1400 troops aboard four warships, attempted to land at Fishguard, under the command of elderly American William Tate. They surrendered to Lord Cawdor two days later, on the 24 February.
