Description

John says that the regiment is in Jackson and if everything goes well, they expect them to return within the next few days. He says that the weather is very hot for marching.

One of the Welsh boys in Company R is very ill with his leg and is too ill to be moved.

John has heard of a fierce battle at Helinactr[?]. He says that a hundred and fifty of their men have been killed or injured.

John has given up thinking about coming home in time for the harvest.
