Description

This view East towards Gilfach Goch c.1910 shows the impact of the railways on Blackmill’s pastoral setting where Hayricks can be seen bottom right. The Blacksmith’s forge is centre left next to the whitewashed ‘Fox and Hounds’ and farmland extends up the slopes on both sides of the valley. The allotment gardens opposite the ‘Fox and Hounds would later succumb toto the needs of the motor car with a petrol garage being built on the same site.
