Letter from Owen Owens to his old neighbours, Richard and Mary Jones, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, while he was fighting in the American Civil War [?21 September 1862] [page 1 of 2]

Description

Owen apologies for writing on a Sunday and remembers the words 'keep the Sabbath a wholly day'.
He says that he hasn't had a prayers meeting since the Sunday they left. He says R. Cook is on guard and E. Richards and J. Owen on picket duty. The letter is very religious. He expresses his wish for their brothers at Salem to pray for them daily.
He says that John is well and in high spirits.
